The Old Jar Potteries Storage Jars (Pair)

These are classic local pieces, manufactured by "The Old Jar" in Benoni way back. The pieces are all quite characteristic, sticking to patterns in soft browns, greens and turquoise set against white - so on the more sedate side, but they're well-made and relatively robust with quite heavy-set, solid frames. The jars on sale today are great examples - they're in lovely condition, without any crazing or damage. The corks must have been replaced at some point as they too are in a very good state, although one is a little tight and doesn't seal the jar very well. Depending on needs, this may be a non-issue, but I figured it was worth mentioning. The pottery closed down in the 1980s and since, these much loved South African classics have grown in popularity.
