Vintage Fireking and Pyrex Bowls (Each)
It's easy to see why these jadite wares from Fireking are so loved by collectors. There are some pretty awesome images on Google of massive collections (like these) and they are fab!!! Fireking were among the first makers and sellers of Jadite pieces, starting manufacture in 1942. The colour of the glass comes from green scrap glass that was added to classic milk glass components - a method that originated during the Great Depression when consumers were in need of more affordable kitchen-ware. Jadite pieces became so popular, and the range of items one could purchase in this type of glass included everything from plates to storage canisters. The dish on sale today is ideal for baking bread or a cake, but I also rather fancy it as a beautiful way to serve crisps or some goodies right off the braai. As for the Pyrex spouted mixing bowl - it's the second of these that we've hosted here at The Good Home. The white milk glass is a Hamilton Beach/Pyrex classic and of course, bowls like this are worth their weight in gold, useful as they are in the kitchen. This one dates to the 1960s as far as I can work out. The white bowl has a faint mark on the base (please see image), possibly from being scratched while washing, but otherwise both pieces are in excellent condition.
Dimensions
Green jadite dish is 21cm long x 10.8cm wide x 6.2cm deep; white Pyrex bowl measures 16cm in diameter x 10.5cm tall.
