Vintage "Whitefriars" Swan Dish
The Whitefriars Glass Factory is England's longest running glass house, having kicked off all the way back in 1834! The brand became known for beautiful, good quality table and decorative glassware. These graceful swan dishes were manufactured by Whitefriars from 1938 to 1978, and in an impressive range of colours. As a fan of amber glass, I think this is probably the loveliest of the lot. The "dish" part is quite petite - probably suffice for some mints, but more useful on your dresser for small bits and bobs. The Whitefriars factory closed in the 1980s but more recently, their artglass has enjoyed a resurgence in interest with collectors on the hunt for their pieces which are impressively varied and lovely.
